VMware vFabric ™ Hyperic®

Some systems management tools require you to build your own plug-ins to collect the metrics you need, a non-trivial and time-consuming task. As a result, key indicators often go unmeasured. vFabric Hyperic ships with more than 75 ready-to-run resource plug-ins, providing deep and broad-based insight without adding to your development workload. Additionally, as updates and extensions to plugins is sometimes necessary as monitoring needs evolve, the Hyperic Plugin Manager allows you to keep all your plugins synchronized automatically across hundreds to thousands of resources, ensuring monitoring capabilities are consistent across your entire application infrastructure.

Each Hyperic plug-in tracks dozens and sometimes hundreds of metric values per server —plus events, log entries, and configuration file changes—for each monitored technology, unlike other tools that only report OK, WARNING, CRITICAL, or UNKNOWN. This gives you the information you need to rapidly diagnose the root cause of application performance problems.

Hyperic’s architecture allows it to collect performance metrics as frequently as once a minute, even when dealing with thousands of servers each reporting hundreds of metrics. This enables you to learn about problems as soon as they occur, minimize downtime, and preserve SLA compliance.

While Hyperic comes equipped to meet the needs of most customers, it is also readily extensible with base classes and a development kit for building custom plug-ins. In addition, members of our active user community regularly contribute plug-ins, expertise and support.
