The VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite is available with two license models to fit your needs:

Per Processor with Unlimited VMs

For virtual environments with high consolidation ratios or if you want a simple, per processor licensing model, consider purchasing vCenter Operations as part of the VMware vCloud Suite.

Per Virtual Machine or Physical Server

For virtual environments with low consolidation ratios or environments with a mix of virtual and physical servers, the vCenter Operations Management Suite is also available a la carte in 25-VM or OS instance license packs.

The VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite is available in four editions targeting teams responsible for managing vSphere and virtual infrastructure, heterogeneous virtual and physical environments, or hybrid cloud infrastructure at the OS and application level:

vCenter Operations Manager Foundation

Get started with this new, entry-level edition of the vCenter Operations Management Suite. Gain deep operational insights and visibility to improve the performance and health of your vSphere environment. vCenter Operations Manager Foundation is included with every vSphere edition free of charge.

vCenter Operations Management Suite Standard

Anticipate performance bottlenecks, optimize capacity consumption and enable vSphere infrastructure health with patented, self-learning analytics, intuitive operations dashboards and actionable recommendations.

vCenter Operations Management Suite Advanced

Deliver quality of service, operational efficiency and configuration compliance across virtual and physical infrastructure with comprehensive operations management capabilities.

vCenter Operations Management Suite Enterprise

Get OS- and application-level monitoring, change and configuration management capabilities to help ensure quality of service, operational efficiency and continuous compliance of both infrastructure and business critical applications in dynamic hybrid cloud environments.

For Existing Customers – Understand the Edition Name Changes

Existing vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.0 customers are entitled to receive the matching edition of the vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.6 free of charge as part of their support and subscription entitlement. With the introduction of vCenter Operations Manager Foundation as the new entry level edition of the Suite, current editions have been renamed to fit the Standard – Advanced – Enterprise nomenclature. Despite the name change, there is no loss of functionality and existing customers can enjoy many new capabilities across the board.
