Designed for the Latest Macs
Optimized for the latest Intel Core i5, i7, and Xeon E5 processors, Fusion 7 Pro delivers up to 43% improvement in CPU - intensive operations like multimedia, encryption/decryption, and other strenuous performance tests. Leveraging the Macs faster memory and SSD performance, and greater power under the hood, Fusion 7 Pro lets you run Windows applications at near-native performance.
Here’s where Fusion really impresses as at times you can completely forget that you’re using a Mac, with software running as quickly as you’d expect it to on a PC.MacLife
Powerful Virtual Machines. Powerful Graphics.
Fusion 7 Pro delivers powerful virtual machines with up to 16 vCPUs, 64GB of RAM, and 8TB disks to run the most demanding applications in a virtualized environment. You can now give graphics-intensive applications an additional boost by allocating up to 2GB of video memory to a virtual machine. Combined with support for OpenGL 2.1 and DirectX 9.0c Shader Model 3 graphics, Fusion 7 Pro will make running highly demanding 3D applications like AutoCAD or SolidWorks a breeze.
Enhanced Retina Support
Fusion 7 Pro is optimized for Retina displays to give you a crisp and detailed experience of your Windows applications, even in Unity mode. If your Mac has a native Retina display or is connected to one, Fusion 7 Pro ensures you get a seamless experience when running Windows across Retina and non-Retina displays.
Dual GPU Optimization
For MacBook Pros with a discrete and an integrated GPU, Fusion 7 Pro lets you choose which GPU you would like to use for 3D applications. Selecting the integrated GPU will result in longer battery life, while selecting the discrete GPU will give you the best performance for 3D applications in a virtual machine. By default, Fusion 7 Pro will use the discrete GPU for 3D applications only and will automatically switch between the two GPUs to give you the best performance while least impacting your battery life.
Fusion 7 Pro reduces its energy impact on Macs to help users do more on a single charge. Improvements in App Nap® support and reduction in Idle Wake Ups ensure that every watt of power coming out of your Mac’s battery is used as efficiently as possible. Fusion 7 Pro shows an energy impact reduction of up to 42% compared to Fusion 6 Pro.
Enhanced Connectivity and iSight Support
With Fusion 7 Pro, Macs equipped with an iSight camera can now use it to conduct video conferences within a Windows virtual machine. Fusion 7 Pro enables fast file transfer with USB 3.0 support, supports HD audio with 5.1 surround sound, and supports Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology.
Leading Edge Mac Virtualization
More Connected than Ever
Fusion 7 Pro now provides a connection to VMware’s vSphere, ESXi or Workstation, allowing you to extend and scale your virtual machines in the cloud. Easily connect to hosted virtual machines and run, upload, or download virtual machines directly from within Fusion 7 Pro. This allows technical professionals to work with local and server-hosted virtual machines side by side for optimal flexibility, and leverage resources beyond the power of a single Mac to run multiple virtual machines simultaneously.
Fusion 7 Pro is the perfect tool to deploy application environments to VMware vSphere or download vSphere virtual machines to test or demonstrate applications locally.
Fusion 7 Pro also supports OVF export to improve compatibility with industry standards.
Build Virtual Networks
Use the Fusion 7 Pro virtual network editor to add and remove virtual networks and create custom virtual networking configurations, ideal for testing and demonstration environments. These multiple virtual machines can replicate complex networking configurations and communicate without interference from the host Mac.
Snapshots and Linked Clones
With Fusion 7 Pro, you can safeguard and protect your work and save valuable time with your virtual machines using the Snapshot and Clone features. The Snapshot feature preserves the state of a virtual machine so you can return to it at any time. Duplicating Fusion Pro virtual machines is easy using the Clone feature, which allows you to make unlimited copies of a virtual machine right from the baseline installation and configuration. Linked clones are an even quicker, easier, and more efficient way to duplicate complex setups for testing and custom demos. Linked clones make a copy of a virtual machine that shares virtual disks with the parent virtual machine and take significantly less disk space than a full clone by allowing multiple virtual machines to use the same software installation.
Fusion 7 Pro introduces time saving features for users that work with multiple virtual machines. The Virtual Machine Library’s new power state indicators allow users to immediately see which virtual machines are running so they can shut down virtual machines not in use and improve overall performance. Fusion 7 Pro also enables application-level, user-configurable shortcuts to easily open or switch to a specific virtual machine.
Enable Macs in Businesses
VMware Fusion 7 Pro provides an easy, reliable, and proven way to enable company employees to run the Windows applications they need on the Macs they want. Using Fusion 7 Pro, businesses can create Windows virtual machines and provide them to employees using Macs. Fusion 7 Pro comes with IT administration tools to help deploy Fusion virtual machines using Apple or a third-party Mac management solution.
Restricted Virtual Machines
Create and control policies around your virtual machines and deliver applications to end-users in a Fusion 7 Pro restricted virtual machine container. Ensure corporate compliance by restricting access to virtual machine settings like drag-and-drop and cut-and-paste, disabling shared folders, and restricting access to USB devices. Fusion 7 Pro restricted virtual machines are encrypted and password-protected to ensure that unauthorized users are unable to tamper with the corporate virtual machines settings or the virtual machine itself.
Expiring Virtual Machines
For workers assigned to short-term projects, temporary employees, or just delivering a software evaluation, Fusion 7 Pro can create restricted virtual machines that expire at a predefined date and time. When powered on, the virtual machine will query the server at specified time intervals, storing the current system time in the restricted virtual machine's policy file as the last trusted timestamp. An expired virtual machine will automatically suspend and will not restart without administrator intervention.
Single Virtual Machine Mode
Fusion 7 Pro can further reduce the cost of supporting Windows desktops with single virtual machine mode, which limits user access to the Virtual Machine library, eliminates the ability to create new virtual machines, and reduces menu options.
If you are running an IT department and need mass deployment options, this is the best option on the Mac.Arstechnica
Simplify License Management
Buying and managing Fusion 7 Pro licenses is easy. Purchase licenses in volume and configure them so your end users are productive using Windows on a Mac from their first power-on. Use the My VMware licensing portal to easily manage all your license keys and support entitlements. Merge license keys together, break them apart or downgrade them to an earlier release, as you see fit.
