VMware has announced that no further orders for VMware Go Pro will be accepted beginning March 1, 2013, the End of Availability (“EOA”) date for VMware Go and VMware Go Pro. VMware has also announced that all technical support and maintenance services for VMware Go and VMware Go Pro will cease on March 15, 2014, the End of Support Life (“EOSL”) date.

Q: What did VMware announce regarding VMware Go and VMware Go Pro?
A: VMware has announced the End of Availability (“EOA”) date for VMware Go and VMware Go Pro.
The end of availability date is March 1, 2013.
Q: When will VMware Go and VMware Go Pro cease to exist?
A: VMware Go and VMware Go Pro will be available until March 15, 2014. On this date, the information stored in VMware Go and VMware Go Pro will be irrecoverably deleted to protect the privacy of our customers.
Q: Can I purchase more VMware Go Pro seats after the EOA date?
A: No, you will not be able to purchase any additional VMware Go Pro seats after March 1, 2013.
Q: Can I continue to use VMware Go and VMware Go Pro after the “EOA” and “EOSL” dates?
A: You may continue to use VMware Go or VMware Go Pro until the EOSL date or the end of your paid subscription, whichever comes first.
Q: What about my recurring charges to VMware Go Pro? Will I still be charged?
A: VMware will automatically cancel the recurring charges on your credit card going forward. If you are a current VMware Go Pro customer with a subscription expiring beyond March 15, 2014, a VMware representative will contact you to discuss options for continuing to use patching capabilities after the EOSL date for Go Pro.
Q: What about my paid subscription to VMware Go Pro?
A: If you have paid for VMware Go Pro, you may continue to use the service until March 15, 2014 or the end of your paid subscription, whichever comes first. You may also opt to purchase
VMware vCenter Protect Standard. For Virtualization needs, please utilize
VMware vCenter Server to administer your virtualization environments going forward.
Q: What happens to my data that was hosted on VMware Go and VMware Go Pro?
A: All data that is hosted with VMware Go and VMware Go Pro will be irrecoverably erased on March 15, 2014. Please make sure to download your data prior to the expiration of this period.
Q: Why are VMware Go and VMware Go Pro being discontinued?
A: VMware Go was targeted to service the “Onboarding to Virtualization” and “IT Management” needs of small and midsize business customers. Over the past few releases of vSphere, VMware has taken steps to ease the vSphere installation experience and added
vCenter Operations Manager Foundation to provide the IT Management functionality. To prevent product functionality overlap, VMware will be discontinuing VMware Go and Go Pro.
Q: Will there be future releases of VMware Go and VMware Go Pro?
A: VMware Go Pro version 2.7 released on February 3, 2013 will be the last update of VMware Go Pro. At this time VMware does not plan to release any further updates apart from Data updates necessary to power the patch scanning capabilities of VMware Go.
