Installing VMware vCenter Lab Manager
In this demonstration we will show you the installation process of Lab Manager Server software on a virtual machine.

Configuring the Lab Manager Server
This demo shows the initial configuration of the Lab Manager Server software.

Creating Organizations
Organizations map groups of users to resource pools, hosts, datastores, media stores, and physical networks. By default, only the System Administrator role can add and delete organizations. The System Administrator and Organization Administrator role can edit organization properties.

Creating Workspaces
Workspaces are work areas within an organization with designated server, storage and network resources. For example, developers and testers in an Engineering organization might have access to Dev and QA workspaces, while members of an IT organization control Staging and Production workspaces. You can seamlessly move virtual machine configurations across workspaces within an organization.

Managing Users and Roles
Managing users in Lab Manager involves operations such as adding users, assigning roles, deleting users and editing user properties. By default, a system administrator or organization administrator can add users or groups to an organization and assign each user or group a role with custom access rights.

Adding a Media Store
A media store is an NFS or VMFS datastore used to store CD, DVD, and floppy images of operating systems and applications that can be accessed from virtual machines in Lab Manager. You can use the same datastore for media and virtual machine storage, as long as you use different directories. By default, only the system administrator role can add media stores.

Managing Lab Manager Resources
In Lab Manager, resources can be dedicated to an organization or shared between organizations. The system administrator assigns some of these resources to Lab Manager during set up, but you can add resources as needed. Only system administrators can add or remove resources to Lab Manager. In this demonstration, we will discuss each tab on the Resources page.

Creating Virtual Machine Templates
Virtual machine templates are the building blocks to create new virtual machines more quickly from a base image. By default, only administrators, organization administrators, and template creators can create virtual machine templates. In this guided tour, we will walk you through steps needed to create a new template, install VMware Tools, deploy the template and finally publish the template.

Creating Network Templates
A network template is a specification for a virtual network in Lab Manager. You can associate a virtual machine NIC with a network template. Network templates allow system administrators, administrators with rights at the organization level, and template creators to predefine virtual networks for other users. In this guided tour, we will walk you through the steps for creating Network template and how to make the network available to other users.

Overview of Lab Manager Concepts
The Lab Manager Web Console is the main user interface for all administrative and user tasks. Through the Lab Manager web portal, you can create, control, capture and share virtual machines with other users. In this demonstration, we will provide a brief overview of the the key Lab Manager concepts including the Library, Workspace and virtual machine configurations.

Creating, Deploying and Sharing Configurations
Configurations consist of one or more virtual machines that are based on a virtual machine template. In this guided tour, we will walk you through the steps to create and deploy a new configuration, capture it in the Library and share it with other users.

Creating a LiveLink
A LiveLink is uniquely identifies a configuration in the Library. You can email this URL to another Lab Manager user, who can click it to deploy a copy of the configuration exactly as it was when it was saved to the Library. In this guided tour, we show you how to create a LiveLink and share it with other users.
