VMware Infrastructure 3 Editions
The rich capabilities of VMware Infrastructure 3 are packaged into three editions to fit the needs and budget of any organization: Foundation, Standard and Enterprise. Each edition includes a hypervisor as well as a set of management capabilities. Customers can choose to deploy either VMware ESX or VMware ESXi. VMware Infrastructure 3 is available in English, German, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.
VMware has released a new version of its datacenter software called VMware vSphere 4. Visit the VMware vSphere 4 Editions page for information on your purchasing options. Once purchased, vSphere 4 licenses may be downgraded to VMware Infrastructure 3 licenses if desired. This will allow you to deploy the editions displayed below.
1 These products require VMware vCenter Server. VMware vCenter Server provides centralized management for VMware Infrastructure so you can manage and administer your entire virtual environment from a single console. Although a VMware vCenter Server agent is included in every VMware Infrastructure license, one instance of the VMware vCenter Server is required to enable the central management capabilities of VMware Infrastructure.
2 Managing VMware ESXi with VMware vCenter Server requires the addition of a VMware vCenter Server Agent available in VMware Infrastructure 3 Foundation, Standard, or Enterprise editions.
3 Requires purchase of Support and Subscription (SnS)
