The pricing and licensing model for vSphere is broken into two categories known as vSphere kits and vSphere editions. vSphere kits are all-in-one offerings that delivery all the necessary licenses and features/functionality required to getting virtualization running in an environment. Kits have defined limits depending on the type of kit purchased. vSphere editions are a la carte offerings generally designed for larger IT environments with a broader set of requirements. These offerings have broader entitlements as well. Please see each section below for specific details.

Prices listed for licenses only, Production and Basic Subscription and Support (SnS), and Incident Support (for vSphere Essentials Kit) are sold separately. All vSphere offerings below can also be upgraded to a higher vSphere kit or edition at any time.
