Dictation and transcription are important but time consuming tasks in healthcare. Medical dictation software speeds dictation and transcription by converting dictated speech to text, allowing doctors to spend more time with patients. Dragon Medical by Nuance, a leader in healthcare speech recognition and dictation software, is widely used in this environment. As healthcare institutions adopt virtual desktops to provide fast, secure and mobile desktop experience to clinical users, there is a growing desire to leverage Dragon Medical on VMware View, a comprehensive desktop virtualization platform for healthcare. This paper describes a series of tests jointly done by Nuance and VMware to ensure that Dragon Medical running on VMware View provides the same dictation experience that end users are familiar with in a physical desktop environment. This document describes the functionality, hardware, and software that were tested, and provides the results of this testing.
