This document provides a high-level overview of the challenges associated with workloads in a virtualized desktop environment, and offers design considerations in managing these issues in a VMware Horizon View implementation. The focus is on the typical challenges associated with the storage subsystem of a virtualized desktop infrastructure, with respect to performance capacity and operational considerations. Where possible, this document offers more than a single solution alternative to an issue, in order to provide the reader flexibility when considering common design choices. VMware Horizon View 5.2 includes storage features that facilitate optimization of storage sizing and performance in a virtual desktop infrastructure.
