Bill Kirwin is Value Modeling Practice Lead for VMware Accelerate Advisory services. Kirwin joined VMware Accelerate Advisory Services in 2012, and his role is to establish VMware as the thought leader in IT value consulting and advisory services.
Kirwin comes to VMware with 25 years’ experience in IT economic analysis, including 20 years with Gartner, Inc. Kirwin served in a variety of executive roles at Gartner, most recently as Vice President, Research and Development, where he specialized in IT management issues, metrics and performance and service delivery platforms. While at Gartner, he developed the methodology called total cost of ownership (TCO), which remains the de facto industry standard approach to understanding and managing IT infrastructure cost.
In his role as Vice President, Research and Business Development, at Cohesive Knowledge Solutions, he specialized in data mining, content development, knowledge management as well as strategic partner development.
Kirwin serves on the Board of Directors of the Community Dining Room in Branford, Connecticut, and Alinean, Inc. As member of the Advisory Board for Saugatuck Technology, Inc., he provides research and analysis in the area of IT management issues with cloud IT and develops content for the organization’s TCO Framework for Cloud IT. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University and certificates as a TCO Expert from Gartner and a Value Selling Expert from Alinean.
