Craig Stanley, Benchmarking Practice Lead for VMware Accelerate Advisory Services in the Americas, creates benchmarking concepts, key performance indicators and peer analysis for major VMware accounts. He focuses on helping clients understand how their investments in virtualization and cloud technologies position them versus their competition and the industry in general, and how to move their organizations toward high-performance IT-as-a-service.

Stanley joined VMware in 2011. He has over 30 years’ IT experience, including several years in collecting business requirements, understanding how technology can effectively meet those requirements, developing the analysis to reveal hidden gems in the data and delivering results that meet or exceed the objectives of the enterprise.

Prior to joining VMware, he was a principal analyst with Alinean, Inc. where he worked collaboratively with customers to develop custom lead generation and sales enablement tools based on TCO and ROI concepts. Before Alinean, he was a research director, vice president and consultant with Gartner, Inc. for nine years. Stanley managed the content for TCO methodologies, tools and deliverable for servers, mainframes and storage practices. He led the evolution of server models and was the architect behind storage management TCO and ROI models. Stanley also developed several new TCO technologies for server analysis and probabilistic pattern identification for peer selection.

Stanley holds a patent for the creation of a mathematical process to predict the computational workload ability of servers based on their configuration. These innovations enhanced customers’ ability to understand and communicate the value of their IT investments to their enterprises. He also authored several research notes on TCO, ROI and best practices.

He has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of South Alabama and master’s degree in business administration from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.
