Derek Lacks, Business Solutions Strategist with VMware Accelerate Advisory Services, helps organizations justify and validate the investment impact of their virtualization and cloud technologies. He performs comprehensive financial analyses aimed at identifying the economic impact of VMware solutions.

Lacks has more than 15 years’ experience in value engineering, holding several strategic leadership roles in which he provided organizations with the evaluation and financial justification of IT innovation. Prior to his current role, he served as Practice Director of IBM’s Business Value Insight Program. Before that, he was Vice President, Professional Services at Consensure, ROI Practice Director with the Delphi Group and Senior Consultant with the Harvard Computing Group.

Lacks joined VMware Accelerate Services in 2010. Most recently, Lacks developed a comprehensive economic model for a major U.S. city that identified over $100 million in infrastructure savings from consolidating the city’s 50-plus geographically dispersed agency data centers under a centralized service delivery model.

Lacks holds a master’s degree with distinction in business administration from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a bachelor’s degree in management from Providence College.
