Holger Doernemann, Manager, Systems Engineering, Germany, supervises the VMware German Systems Engineering team and leads the VMware Accelerate Advisory Services program in Germany. He focuses on how to improve customer businesses through IT transformation, defining an IT strategy that strongly aligns with relevant business goals.

Before joining VMware in 2011, Doernemann spent more than five years with IBM Tivoli Software as a technical manager for systems and service management architectures. In this role he also led IBM Software Group’s strategic initiatives such as Green IT and Dynamic Datacenter and was a member of the cross-functional cloud computing team in Germany. His main area of interest and customer projects were datacenter automation, server provisioning and IT service management within cloud projects.

Previously, he was part of the leadership team that developed Rational Software in Germany. In this role, Doernemann assessed and improved software lifecycle processes for a variety of customers in the telecommunications and Internet service provider industries, where he achieved business improvements through IT innovation and process optimization.

Doernemann holds a diploma in computer sciences and theoretical medicine earned at the Universities of Dortmund and Bochum. He has written books on software development and requirements engineering and published articles on risk management. Doernemann is certified in ITIL and Rational Unified Process. He also is a trainer for interactive service management simulations.
