Joe Cheong is Business Solutions Strategist, Greater China, with VMware Accelerate Advisory Services.
Cheong has 25 years of IT management and consulting experience with a number of professional services and technologies vendors in the Greater China and Asia region. Prior to joining VMware, Cheong played key roles with EMC, most recently as a core team member in the Virtual Computing Environment (VCE) joint initiative with EMC, VMware and Cisco. The VCE alliance spearheaded the growth of the private cloud and virtualization market in Greater China.
Previously, as a consultant with Sun Microsystems, he served as the project director overseeing a USD $2 million professional services engagement in Hong Kong. Cheong was responsible for managing the project team and the Project Steering Board comprised of the client’s CEO, COO and CTO plus top officials of Sun. He also served as regional head of IT in Asia for Level3, head of IT for PricewaterhouseCoopers and head of professional services for Agilysis in Hong Kong.
Cheong joined VMware as the core member of Accelerate Advisory Services for Asia Pacific Japan and is now introducing advisory services to the Greater China market.
Cheong holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from Texas State University.
