Mark Sarago, Strategist with VMware Accelerate Advisory Services, provides collaborative services to global customers to help them define and communicate their IT strategy with strong alignment to business goals and measures.
Sarago has more than 30 years of IT experience including more than 15 years as a Chief Information Officer. He has led large IT organizations in the financial services, international shipping and logistics, money management and insurance industries. He has also advised leading companies in the financial services, health care, power utilities, and retail internet sectors on a variety of subjects including IT effectiveness and performance improvement, enterprise architecture, project management, data warehousing / analytics, document imaging, balanced scorecards, software development, budgeting, system integration and information security.
Prior to joining VMware, Sarago was a Senior Director with business consulting firm Alvarez &Marsal. He previously served as the CIO at Toyota Financial Services (TFS), where he was responsible for information technology both in the United States and the Americas regions (Canada through Argentina). At TFS, he completely restructured the IT department while ensuring financial discipline, operational metric transparency, and healthy project execution through an effective project management office.
Sarago earned a bachelor's degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
