Reid Engstrom

Reid Engstrom, Chief Strategist for VMware Accelerate Advisory Services, helps customers articulate and document their visions of strategic IT as a service. Engstrom advises customers on planning for cloud solutions, identifying business value and aligning their overall business and IT goals and strategies with virtualization and cloud computing. 

Engstrom joined VMware after 35 years’ industry experience, including 13 years as the senior executive for IT global operations and infrastructure at Harley-Davidson. He previously held IT, marketing and engineering management roles at companies including IBM, Bucyrus Erie, Sunbeam-Oster, and Newell Corporation.

Since joining the VMware Accelerate Advisory Services team in 2010, Engstrom has worked with major U.S. clients in a number of industry segments including manufacturing, financial services, and state government to deliver diagnostic and benchmarking projects and comprehensive strategies. These studies yielded significant cost savings and business benefits that exceeded the client’s original requirements.

Engstrom is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin and has served on a number of nonprofit and technology focused boards including the University of Wisconsin Technology Consortium, YMCA Technology Board and the United Way Cabinet. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in business administration from Marquette University.
