VMware vCloud Automation Center (previously DynamicOps) acts as a “service governor,” enabling policy-based provisioning across VMware-based private and public clouds, physical infrastructures, multiple hypervisors and Amazon Web Services.
VMware vCloud Automation Center’s capabilities extend to the virtual desktop environment to provide unified cloud management for desktops and servers across virtual and physical systems in private and public cloud deployments. It lets you evolve existing infrastructure into scalable private, public and desktop cloud services in days for fast time-to-cloud value and quickly and economically respond to market demands.
Infrastructure Provisioning
vCloud Automation Center enables customized, self-service provisioning of cloud services that comply with established business policies. It provides a secure self-service portal where authorized administrators, developers or business users can request new IT services as well as manage existing computer resources from predefined user-specific menus. An integration between vCloud Automation Center and vCloud Director enables VI admins to seamlessly leverage the benefits of policy-based virtual datacenters built on pooled vSphere infrastructure resources as well as vSphere’s software-defined networking, security, storage and availability services.
vCloud Automation Center’s unique model-driven architecture allows vSphere and infrastructure admins to easily model IT infrastructure services so that the same policy, governance and self-service management capabilities provided for vSphere can be extended to other hypervisors, physical hardware and other cloud resources. vCloud Automation Center also enables end-to-end lifecycle management of existing and newly provisioned cloud compute resources.

vFabric Application Management Suite solutions enable application management, including application build and deployment, on private, public and hybrid clouds, supporting the emergence of DevOps teams in their journey to enable business innovation delivery through accelerated application delivery. vFabric Application Director provides a consistent methodology and process for standardizing how applications are modeled and provisioned, enabling flexibility and choice for developers to use any development framework and language they choose. Reusable logical blueprints created using pre-approved, standardized OS middleware and OS components can be leveraged across teams, organizations and clouds, including Amazon Web Services.
In contrast to traditional tools, vFabric Application Management Suite provides IT teams with holistic support for the legacy and modern applications they develop, deploy and manage across hybrid clouds. Monitoring policies are integrated into the deployment process to ensure the smooth transition of applications into production. vFabric Applications Performance Manager provides a comprehensive approach to application management, including resource and transaction monitoring and byte code instrumentation.
Desktops as a Service
vCloud Automation Center’s personalized, self-service portal and end-to-end automation transforms virtual desktop infrastructure into a virtual desktop cloud. The solution’s highly automated process enables rapid creation of desktops that meet exact specifications of both the business and individual users.
