On Nov. 3rd, Cisco, EMC with VMware, announce The Virtual Computing Environment coalition represents an a collaboration in development, services and partner enablement that ‘de-risks’ the infrastructure virtualization journey of customers to private cloud implementation.
Overview
VMware and Cisco share a common vision around the benefits of virtualization to the IT organization. Both companies advocate data center virtualization as the preferred strategy to improve return on assets, reduce operational complexity, and increase infrastructure agility. Cisco defines virtualization as central to their data center vision, starting with their introduction of VLAN technology in Cisco Catalyst 5000 in the 1990s, now in the VN-Link network services on the Cisco Nexus 1000V switch, and as part of future solution offerings. Cisco and VMware continue to work together to provide incremental value to the customer.
