As a VMware OEM, Egenera and its partners can resell VMware software, and customers can receive first-level support from Egenera alongside support for their implemented hardware.
Egenera is porting VMware ESX to their BladeFrame system, balancing Egenera's virtualized architecture with the server virtualization from VMware ESX Server, and maintaining choice for customers. For Egenera, VMware is an Enterprise Technology Alliance.
Egenera’s solutions complement and extend VMware virtualization solutions. Egenera’s focus is on providing Data Center Virtualization, establishing and managing the entire network, server and storage infrastructure – both virtual and physical – balancing and using each in the best way, logically, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery. Egenera refers to this as a Processing Area Network (PAN) since it includes both application, network and storage servers.
Egenera PAN Manager ensures high availability and automates hardware failover – it also includes provisioning for disaster recovery, policy-based automation, full monitoring and management.
