Trend Micro is a global leader in content security and threat management, with more than 20 years of expertise in server, endpoint, messaging, and Web security.
Trend Micro provides the most comprehensive suite of next-generation virtualization security solutions available today. These solutions leverage the VMware platform to deliver better-than-physical security, giving VMware customers the confidence to accelerate and complete their virtualization journey, maximize consolidation rates and cost savings, and ensure compliance.
Certification
Trend Micro has actively and closely worked with VMware to leverage its various APIs and validation programs. This ensures tight integration with VMware products and the best possible end user experience for VMware customers.
VMware VMsafe: This technology provides a unique capability for virtualized environments through an application program interface (API)-sharing program that has enabled Trend Micro and other select partners to develop security products for VMware environments. The result is an open approach to security that provides customers with the most secure platform on which they can virtualize their business-critical applications. VMware provides vendors with a certification test methodology, and then validates the results achieved. Customers who choose VMsafe certified virtual appliances can be confident in the quality and stability of the virtual appliance protecting their virtualized environment.
Trend Micro offers two VMsafe-based products, Trend Micro Deep Security as well as Trend Micro Core Protection for Virtual Machines, and is the only VMware partner to successfully complete the VMsafe appliance certification testing process, including all test cases. Trend Micro's strategic relationship with VMware enabled development work to begin in the early stages of the VMsafe program, thereby advancing the release of the VMsafe-based products.
- Trend Micro Deep Security 7.0 is the first product to successfully complete VMware's VMsafe vNetwork appliance certification testing. Certification testing covered all aspects of the Deep Security Virtual Appliance implementation including support for both Windows and Linux VMs, the number of VMs, VM to VM topology on the same ESX hosts and across ESX hosts, vMotion functionality, stress testing and longevity testing.
- Trend Micro Core Protection for Virtual Machines is designed specifically for VMware. This anti-malware solution secures both active and dormant virtual machines from next- generation threats while addressing operational requirements related to virtualization.
VMware-Ready Virtual Appliance Program: This validation program is designed to ensure the best possible user experience for virtual appliances being deployed in production. All VMware-Ready virtual appliances go through the same comprehensive set of tests to ensure consistency and completeness of the virtual appliance.
- All appliances are tested by VMware to verify that they work with the VMware infrastructure and have all of the necessary documentation to assist new users in either evaluating the virtual appliance or setting up that appliance for production use.
- Vendors that provide these virtual appliances ensure that they have tested and optimized the entire solution stack on the VMware infrastructure.
- Companies that produce VMware Ready Virtual Appliances also provide support for their appliances to ensure that the solution they offer has all of the latest security patches and is maintained according to VMware best practices.
Trend Micro offers several VMware Ready Virtual Appliances that have gone through a rigorous set of VMware tests:
- Trend Micro InterScan Web Security Virtual Appliance
- Trend Micro Advanced Reporting and Management Virtual Appliance
- Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security Virtual Appliance
- Trend Micro Email Encryption Virtual Appliance
- Trend Micro LeakProof
