vCenter Storage Monitoring Service API [Experimental] Documentation

With the release of vCenter Server 4.0, VMware provides an experimental storage monitoring service that runs in conjunction with vCenter Server to provide reporting-level services about storage. The VMware vCenter Storage Monitoring Service API (SMS API) is an experimental API packaged with the VMware vSphere Web Services SDK 4.0 that enables developers to pull together reports about storage consumption with just a few lines of code.

Prior to release, the vCenter Storage Monitoring Service was called Storage Management Service. The documentation uses both names interchangeably.
