Installing Novell Clustering Services on the Cluster Nodes

Installing Novell Clustering Services on the Cluster Nodes

Before you install Novell Clustering Services on the nodes, you must prepare a BusLogic driver diskette since NetWare 6.0 does not ship the BusLogic SCSI driver. You must download the version for NetWare 5.1 from the Novell Web site at support.novell.com/servlet/filedownload/pub/dskdrv.exe.

Select one of the links under Global Download Sites.

The file available at that location is a self-extracting Zip file that contains an updated set of Novell DeveloperNet Labs "Tested and Approved" drivers.

When you execute the file, it expands to several folders. The BusLogic driver is in the dskdrv\buslogic folder. The required files are BLUMM3.DDI and BLUMM3.HAM.

Copy these two files to a DOS-formatted floppy disk, then remove the floppy disk from the GSX Server host before continuing with the following steps.

  1. Power on the first node virtual machine (Cluster 1).

  2. Boot into DOS by pressing the F5 key to bypass running the startup files.

  3. Insert the driver floppy disk in the host's floppy drive.

  4. Copy the drivers to the c:\nwserver directory.

  5. Remove the driver floppy disk in the host's floppy drive.

  6. Reboot the virtual machine.

  7. After the server is loaded, install the BusLogic drivers. See the Novell product documentation for more details.

  8. The server should be able to recognize the shared disks. You may verify that by running: List Devices.

Repeat the above steps for the node 2 virtual machine (Cluster 2).

Now you are ready to install the Novell Clustering Services (NCS) as you would normally on two physical machines. Please refer to the NetWare 6.0 product documentation for details.
