  • Have you placed an order to upgrade existing vSphere 4 licenses to a higher edition (e.g., vSphere Standard to vSphere Advanced)?


  • Did you receive an email with your license key(s)?


  • Did you receive an order confirmation email?


  • Please contact VMware to help purchase your upgrade.
  • An email containing your new license keys should have been sent to you. If you did not receive it, it is possible that it got lost. Please check your Licensing Portal to confirm that your new license keys have been added to your account.
  • It is possible that your order has not been completely processed yet. Please contact your Primary License Administrator (PLA) or your VMware reseller to check the status of your order.
  • Your license key(s) should be installed into your product for activation. Please refer to the Licensing How-to Guide.

    Please note: The license keys that have been upgraded are now considered deactivated. Please make sure you remove all deactivated licenses from your product, as continued use constitutes a violation of your VMware EULA section. Please consult the product documentation for instructions on how to remove license keys from the product.
