VMware vCenter Orchestrator SQL Plug-In 1.0 Release Notes
Introduction to the VMware vCenter Orchestrator SQL Plug-InThe VMware vCenter Orchestrator SQL Plug-in allows organizations to automate operations on database tables and records. When performing virtual machine provisioning or maintenance tasks in cloud environments, data such as IP addresses and other configuration items often need to be retrieved from databases managed by IT. Other pieces of information such as a virtual machine's owner, cost, or other business data often need to be populated and updated in separate databases owned by the business side of the organization. With the SQL plug-in, organizations can automate these steps in easy-to-develop workflows. The SQL plug-in allows workflows designers to include database create, read, update, and delete operations without having to write any SQL statements. The plug-in provides the ability to dynamically connect to a database and browse its schema within the Orchestrator workflow editor, making it easy to define database operations in workflows. The SQL plug-in also supports SSL certificates for increased security. The VMware vCenter Orchestrator SQL Plug-In 1.0 release runs on VMware vCenter Orchestrator 4.1 and the subsequent update releases, as well as VMware vCenter Orchestrator 4.2. For instructions about installing and configuring the plug-in, see Using the vCenter Orchestrator SQL Plug-In 1.0. |
