Fusion 1.1
1. What is Fusion 1.1?
Fusion 1.1 is a minor maintenance release which focuses on localizing the product for French, German and Japanese customers.
2. Who is entitled to the Fusion 1.1 update?
VMware Fusion 1.1 is a free update for all VMware Fusion 1.0 users.
3. As a Fusion 1.0 user, do I need a new license to run the Fusion 1.1 update?
No. A new license is not required. An existing Fusion 1.0 license will work with the VMware Fusion 1.1 update.
4. How will our users receive notification about the Fusion 1.1 update?
VMware Fusion 1.0 has a phone home feature which is enabled and will automatically notify users of the update. The notification message will direct customers to our VMware Support page where each user can manually download VMware Fusion 1.1 update.
5. How are localization media kits obtained for Fusion 1.1?
Localization media kits are available through our distributor Smith Micro. Contact Smith Micro at http://www.allume.com/store or (949) 362-8461.
6. Will the 30 day complimentary support apply for the Fusion 1.1 update?
The 30 day complimentary support period is available only to customers who purchase and register Fusion 1.1 as a new product.
7. Can I submit a per incident support request for Fusion 1.1?
Yes. Per incident support will cover all versions of Fusion.
Installation and Upgrade Questions
1. I would like to purchase Fusion, what steps are required?

2. What steps are recommended to upgrade my Beta Fusion version to the Production version?
The following steps are recommended:
1) Uninstall VMware Fusion (double-click VMware-Fusion-1.0.0-51348.dmg and then double-click "Uninstall VMware Fusion")
2) Delete the following folder: /Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/
3) Delete following file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.vmware.fusion.plist
4) Delete the following folder: ~/Library/VMware Fusion/
5) Install VMware Fusion (double-click VMware-Fusion-1.0.0-51348.dmg and then double-click "Install VMware Fusion")
Also, please be sure to install the latest version of VMware Tools in your Virtual Machines after upgrading VMware Fusion.
3. I'm upgrading from the VMware Fusion Beta to the shipping product, what do I do? Will I lose my virtual machines? Can I use my serial number key I received during the pre-order to install the product?
To upgrade, uninstall the beta version and install the shipping product version of Fusion. The virtual machines you created with the Fusion Beta will not be lost during the uninstall/install procedure. Your pre-order serial number key is the key to install the shipping product.
4. How will the upgrade work from beta to full version?
Customers will download the final RC, uninstall the Beta version and reinstall the production version.
5. Is it recommended to uninstall beta before installing the released full version or can you simply upgrade?
Customers must uninstall the Beta version first before upgrading to the production version.
6. Will I lose all the virtual machines I created in the beta version?
No. When you uninstall the beta version and install the shipping version of VMware Fusion, all of the virtual machines you created using the beta will remain intact.
7. How do I check what Fusion build I am running on?
Check the .dmg file, it should read - VMware-Fusion-1.0.0-51348.dmg
Serial Number Questions
1. How do I register my serial number?
Please see our document on registering serial numbers.
2. I bought Fusion through the VMware Store and have lost the serial number. How do I replace it?
You can retrieve your serial number through the "Account" page on STORE: http://www.vmware.com/vmwarestore/newstore/account.jsp
Click on “Manage Order”
Click on “OrderID” and enter in your order
Go to highlighted “Serial Number” click there and that will provide your serial number
3. I lost my serial number card from the package I purchased from Smith Micro or from a retail store. How do I replace it?

4. If a customer loses his serial number originally received in the package and didn’t register it with VMware, then is there a way to locate that serial number on the computer?
From the VMware Fusion menu, select licensing…, serial number will be displayed in the software licensing dialog.

3. I have a technical question that I need help with. What are my options?
For general assistance with VMware Fusion installation, you are entitled to one month of complimentary web-based support. To receive your complimentary support you must first register your product. You can do this using your existing VMware account or by creating a new account in our VMware Store. If you are outside of the 30-day complimentary support period, fee-based per incident web support is available to you.
4. Is Enterprise level support available for Fusion?
Yes, VMware Fusion Site Support is available for organizations with large VMware Fusion installations. Contact VMware Sales for more information.
5. If I purchase Fusion from the VMware Store, is it automatically registered to my Store account or is a subsequent step required for registration?
We will send you a serial number to complete your installation process that you will need to enter on your Account page.
