Changes to VMware Support Options Names
On January 22, 2010, VMware made some changes to its support options. We adjusted the names of the Gold and Platinum offerings to more accurately reflect the level of support customers receive.
Note: There are no changes to program features or pricing associated with these name changes.

Platinum Support was renamed Production Support
Production Support is for production environments, where 24 x 7 uptime and support is required. -
Gold Support was renamed Basic Support
Basic Support is for non-production environments, where 12 x 5 support is acceptable.
