Compatibility Matrixes for vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.0 and Later
|
Last Updated: 15-APR-2013 The Compatibility Matrixes for vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.0 and Later describe the compatibility between VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.0 and its updates with platforms, database software, guest operating systems, storage partners, and other VMware solutions. Where compatibility information for SRM exists in the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes and the VMware Compatibility Guide, the present matrixes describe how to use these tools to find the relevant information. Where the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes and the VMware Compatibility Guide do not provide information relating to SRM, this information is listed here. In the compatibility tables listed in these matrixes, YES means the versions are compatible and No means the versions are not compatible. Upgrade PathsYou can perform in-place upgrades of existing SRM installations to certain newer versions. For the most up to date supported upgrade paths for SRM, check the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes.
vSphere EditionsSRM 5.0 and its updates support the following editions of vSphere.
ESX/ESXi Server RequirementsSRM 5.0 and its updates support the same ESX/ESXi versions as vCenter Server. If you use vSphere Replication with SRM 5.0.x, vSphere Replication 1.0.x requires ESXi Server 5.0 or one of its update releases. For the most up to date ESX/ESXi compatibility for SRM, check the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes.
vCenter Server RequirementsSRM 5.0 and its updates are compatible with the equivalent vCenter Server release and any preceding update releases. SRM supports the vCenter Server appliance (vCSA) on either or both of the protected and recovery sites. For the most up to date vCenter Server compatibility, check the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes.
Host Operating System Compatibility for SRM ServerThe SRM 5.0 server and its updates run on the same Windows host operating systems as the corresponding vCenter Server versions. NOTE: vCenter Server 5.0u2 supports Windows Server 2012 as a host operating system. SRM 5.0.2 does not support Windows Server 2012 as a host operating system for SRM Server. For the most up to date host operating system compatibility information, check the VMware Compatibility Guide.
Host Operating System Compatibility for SRM Client Plug-InThe SRM plug-in for the vSphere Client and its updates run on the same host operating systems as the corresponding vSphere Client versions. Localizations are supported where available. For the most up to date host operating system compatibility information, check the VMware Compatibility Guide.
Supported Database SoftwareRegardless of the database server you are using, you must install a 32-bit database client (ODBC driver) on the SRM server host. The SRM server is not compatible with 64-bit database clients. SRM 5.0 and its updates support the same database software as vCenter Server 5.0 and its updates. For the latest details of the databases that SRM 5.0 and its updates supports, check the VMware Product Interoperability Matrices.
Guest Operating System SupportSRM 5.0 and its updates support the protection and recovery of virtual machines that run all of the guest operating systems that vSphere 5.0 and its updates support. NOTE: If support for a guest operating system has been added in an update release of ESXi Server and SRM, to protect virtual machines that run those operating systems you must update ESXi Server to the corresponding update release as well as updating SRM. You must update ESXi Server on both the protected and recovery sites. For the full list of guest operating systems that vSphere 5.0 supports, check the online VMware Compatibility Guide.
Guest Operating System Customization SupportWhile guest operating system customization works for many of the guest operating systems that vSphere 5.0 and its updates support, the following table lists those operating systems for which guest OS customization is officially supported with SRM 5.0 and its updates. NOTE: If support for IP customization of a guest operating system has been added in an update release of ESXi Server and SRM, to protect virtual machines that run those operating systems you must update ESXi Server to the corresponding update release as well as updating SRM. You must update ESXi Server on both the protected and recovery sites.
Interoperability with VMware SolutionsFor details of the interoperability of SRM with other VMware solutions, check the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes.
Storage Replication Adapter SupportFor the list of certified storage array adapters (SRA) that SRM 5.0 and its updates support, see the VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager Storage Partner Compatibility Matrix.
