If you have pre-existing VirtualCenter templates that currently are not recognized by VirtualCenter, for example, you may have moved to a different server, and you want to add them to VirtualCenter, perform one of the following:

If the templates were VirtualCenter server repository based templates:

1. Browse to the template folder
2. Select the configuration file associated with the desired template.
3. Add the template.

   This does not require copying any files.

If the templates were not stored in the VirtualCenter repository, that is they were kept on VMFS-based datastore:

1. Manually copy the templates from the old server to the new VirtualCenter template repository server.
2. Browse to the template folder
3. Select the configuration file associated with the desired template.
4. Add the templates one by one.

   This does not require copying any files. You don't have to create virtual machines, and there is no additional copying involved.
