Reimporting a Template
If you have pre-existing VirtualCenter templates that currently are not recognized by VirtualCenter, for example, you may have moved to a different server, and you want to add them to VirtualCenter, perform one of the following:
If the templates were VirtualCenter server repository based templates:
- Browse to the template folder
- Select the configuration file associated with the desired template.
- Add the template.
This does not require copying any files.
If the templates were not stored in the VirtualCenter repository, that is they were kept on VMFS-based datastore:
- Manually copy the templates from the old server to the new VirtualCenter template repository server.
- Browse to the template folder
- Select the configuration file associated with the desired template.
- Add the templates one by one.
This does not require copying any files. You don't have to create virtual machines, and there is no additional copying involved.
