HP and VMware are working together to put virtual machine technology into ProLiant servers. The idea is to simplify deployment and management for enterprise datacenters. VMware software can create secure, fault-resistant partitions on the ProLiant servers. That means systems administrators can use a single ProLiant as a replacement for multiple Windows and Linux boxes, saving operational expenses and capital costs. The deal follows a similar agreement between VMware and IBM in February, which saw virtual machine capabilities added to Big Blue's eServer xSeries machines.
