Workspace ONE Mobile App Usage Data Program
Program Overview: VMware’s Workspace ONE Mobile App Usage Data Program collects data about usage of our participating mobile apps for the purposes set forth in the Service Usage Data Program.
Types of Mobile App Usage Data Collected: In addition to the types of data collected under the Service Usage Data Program, VMware regularly collects the following information in connection with our customer’s and its users use of the participating mobile apps.
- Configuration Data: Technical data about how a user has configured the mobile app(s)/ their device and related environment information. Examples include fonts, mobile apps used, etc.
- Feature Usage Data: Feature usage data relates to how a user uses the mobile apps. Examples include functionality used and click-stream actions.
- Technical Device Data: Technical data about a user device. Examples include model, OS version, and screen size/form factor.
- IP Address of the User’s device: IP address is only used to map to a city/country/region.
Such information is collected in association with customer identifying information via a variety of automated means (such as clickstream or similar technologies). Limited personal data (e.g. data that identifies an individual) is also collected such as email address, IP/MAC address of the device they are using, and any identifiers. To the extent we collect personal data, we will process it in accordance with our Privacy Notices.

Controls:
By the IT Administrator: A customer’s IT administrator can control whether the customer participates in the Workspace ONE Mobile App Usage Data Program. If a customer does not want to participate in the Workspace ONE Mobile App Usage Data Program, the customer’s IT administrator can opt the customer out of the Mobile App Usage Data Program for all apps by following the instructions provided in the product documentation.
By the User: Even if a customer participates in the Workspace ONE Mobile App Usage Data Program, the customer’s individual users may still opt out of sending their Mobile App Usage Data from the app, both during the first set up of the app on their device and later via their settings. For the user, each app has its own setting, which allows a user to decide to opt out of the Workspace ONE Mobile App Usage Data Program for certain apps while continuing to participate in this program for other apps. As a result, if a user does not want to participate in the Workspace ONE Mobile App Usage Data Program, the user should opt out of it for each participating app separately.
Workspace ONE Windows Mobile App Usage Data Program
Program Overview: VMware’s Workspace ONE Windows Mobile App Usage Data Program collects application launch and crash report data from certain of its Windows mobile applications (“Windows Mobile App Data”). This Windows Mobile App Data is separate from the general Mobile App Usage Data discussed above and it is also separate from Operational Data that we use in operating our products and services.
Types of Windows Mobile App Data Collected: Certain of our Windows mobile applications send VMware data about application launches and crash reports of users within a customer’s organization, including date and time stamps of application launches and application crashes on a user’s device. This Windows Mobile App Data is tied to a unique identifier so that we can distinguish among separate users but VMware does not use this Windows Mobile App Data in any manner that personally identifies users.
Apps Participating: The following applications participate in this Windows Mobile App Data reporting program:
- Workspace ONE Content Locker (Windows platform)
- Workspace ONE Tunnel (Windows platform)
- Workspace ONE (Windows platform)
Controls:
By the User: Users can control whether they participate in this Windows Mobile App Usage Data Program. Each app has its own Windows Mobile App Data setting, which allows each user to decide to opt out of the Windows Mobile App Usage Data Program for certain apps while continuing to participate in this program for other apps. As a result, if a user does not want to participate in the Windows Mobile App Usage Data Program, the user should opt out of it for each participating app separately.
- For Content Locker, this opt-out is available starting with Content Locker 1.3.1 (Windows Platform).
- For Tunnel, this opt-out is available starting with Tunnel 2.1 (Windows Platform).
Uses of Collected Data
VMware uses the data collected under each of the programs for the purposes set forth in the Service Usage Data Program.
We may combine the data we collect under this program with data that we have collected about our customers in connection with a customer’s account and other VMware data collection programs (subject to any usage limitations on combining imposed by those programs). In some instances, you may have the ability to configure what information is collected by VMware.
VMware may update this information from time to time to reflect changes in our mobile apps and how we operate these programs. We encourage you to periodically review this page to stay informed of any changes.
