VMware: A JUST Company

At VMware, we realize that all parts of our business have global impact–from the products we create, the way we treat our employees and customers to the ways we give back to the community. Today, we are proud to announce that Forbes, in partnership with JUST Capital, placed VMware No. 7 on their annual list of America’s best companies when it comes to positive corporate behavior.  Last year, the company placed No. 26.

For the JUST 100 list, JUST Capital uses polling, market research and corporate performance measurements to rank companies on the issues Americans care about most, identifying the companies that work “to make the world a more just place.” 890 companies were evaluated for this year’s list.

feature story in Forbes discussed a number of reasons behind VMware’s strong showing, including:

  • The work VMware done to has achieved 99% pay equity between female and male workers and full equity on the grounds of race
  • How the company has achieved carbon neutrality two years ahead of the schedule
  • The collaboration VMware has taken with Stanford University through the Seeds of Change program (which has evolved into the VMware Women’s Leadership Innovation Lab at Stanford University)
  • VMware’s recent investment to work with Women Who Code in India to train 15,000 mothers to return to work
  • The company’s recently-announced plans to work with the City of Palo Alto with a proof of concept for a new community microgrid

Throughout VMware’s 20-year history, we aspire to have a net positive impact by putting back more than we take and involving all parts of our business in the challenge. We look forward to continued opportunities to drive positive social and environmental change on a global scale.
