VMware Launches New Global Channel Program

VMware VIP Network Tops 200 Members

PALO ALTO, Calif., September 3, 2003— VMware, Inc., the global leader in virtual machine software for industry-standard systems, today introduced the VMware VIrtual Partner (VIP) Network to further expand its world-class distribution channel. The VIP Network provides accredited resellers and distributors worldwide with the tools, information and resources to successfully sell VMware products alone or in combination with hardware and value-added services. Additionally, the VIP Network provides product and marketing incentives to drive sales opportunities and reward partners that build sustainable revenue streams from the sale of VMware products.

More than 200 charter members have joined the VIP Network, including Blue Connections, Brigh Technologies, Champion Solutions Group, CompServ, CompuCom, Computacenter, ComTech, Expert Server Group, Gotham Technology Group, Greymatter, Ingram Micro, Jardine One Solutions, Longview, Mainline, Networld, Programmer's Paradise, Service IT Solutions, Sirius, Western New York Computer and Whizz-Work.

"We continue to see tremendous growth in sales across our entire suite of virtual machine products. Our worldwide network of partners has been an important contributor to this growth and remains fundamental to our distribution strategy moving forward," said Kirk Bowman, executive vice president of worldwide field operations at VMware. "Our VIP Network consists of the highest quality distributors and resellers worldwide, and we look forward to expanding the number of participating partners this year."

Members in the VIP Network have access to development software, early releases of forthcoming products, advanced technical support, training and education in order to provide customers with the highest levels of service and support.

Resellers are classified either as Enterprise or Professional Resellers based on the products they resell. Enterprise Resellers primarily focus on selling VMware enterprise server products, VMware ESX Server and VMware GSX Server, and services, while Professional Resellers primarily focus on VMware GSX Server and VMware Workstation. The program has two levels, Advanced and Authorized, and resellers are classified based on their technical expertise, sales volume and overall commitment to VMware.
