VMware literally runs on VMware products, apps and solutions, and we are honored to share our achievement and innovative initiatives. VMware IT partners with all parts of the business, including R&D to deploy VMware products in our environments and with Sales to share our product deployment journey with Customers. At VMware, we use our own products and technology to solve our most critical challenges—the same ones faced daily by every IT organization. We share our IT experience, insights, and best practices in our blogs.
As the leader of the global Audio-Visual team at VMware, I try to infuse my team members with the same passion, energy, and enthusiasm I have for developing meaningful and progressive technology solutions that support our global meeting and event experiences. These efforts ultimately break down barriers created by physical distance, cultural communication, diversity, and personal limitations. And I love connecting people with the technology that enables a more productive experience.
As a database architect at VMware, I take a straightforward approach to challenges. I’m endlessly curious about the root cause of any problem—from disaster recovery to designing highly available architecture—and how IT can solve it in the simplest, most efficient way. I care about this because enterprises tend to overcomplicate solutions rather than look at the big picture of how customers actually use the technology. This can lead to delivering quick fixes instead of long-term answers and prevention.
The key components to managing technology change are delivering quality IT processes at speed, eliminating redundant/time-consuming tasks, reducing overhead and doing it all securely. That’s a big part of my job as Senior Manager, IT Applications. But another significant part is helping DevOps become an organizational/cultural change agent. And that’s what makes what I do so exciting—I get to both create change solutions and shepherd them to make employees/external customers as efficient and productive as possible.
On paper, I use machine learning and micro-services to ensure internal/external end users are their most productive. But I’ve discovered that what truly drives innovation, better solutions and better products is a passion and curiosity for the work. I actually love coming to work (!) as a Member of Technical Staff, Emerging Technologies, knowing I can think out of the box to make things simpler, easier, and even more fun so people enjoy the technology instead of resenting it.
VMware IT is committed to delivering a delightful experience to all colleagues and enable them to do their best work. As part of this commitment, we leverage VMware Horizon desktops and applications to provide secure, seamless access to internal resources, regardless of the device or location. In this session, we will address some key elements and technologies used to build VMware Horizon internal deployments and how they advantageously tie in with Zero Trust security concepts.
Global events, combined with advances in technology, have accelerated the adoption of virtual reality (VR) within the enterprise workplace. In this session we will share how our Virtual Reality at Work service initiative is ideal for enabling cross-functional teams that spend hours a day on video calls, streamlining global review/approval processes, enhancing worker productivity, and allowing more dynamic and immersive presentations/events/live experiences. There are a variety of other applications as well, including field sales enablement, remote training and development, 3D modeling and design functions, and even wellness programs. The service augments existing enterprise functions and expands its capabilities by eliminating any physical limitations.
VMware’s success would not be possible without our employees, from entry-level roles on up. Our unwavering focus on innovation with a collaborative mindset is what makes VMware IT so successful. That, plus the fact that we offer competitive benefits, a generous time-off policy, a beautiful park-like campus, and a program that allows colleagues to participate in community service activities of their choosing, make VMware IT a unique blend of people passionate about their work and their community. In fact, in Computerworld’s “The 100 Best Places to Work in IT 2019 we ranked 4th in the benefits category and 12th in the large organization category. We were also recognized for diversity and inclusion, being named to the Forbes “Best Employers for Diversity 2019” list.
