VMware and Google
VMware Secures and Enables Users on Android Enterprise, Chrome OS, and Google Cloud
VMware and Google have partnered since the beginning of Android in the enterprise and have continued to build robust support for mobile workers and enterprises. This partnership has expanded to include industry-first Chrome OS management to deliver apps, security, and advanced capabilities from a unified location through VMware Workspace ONE, powered by VMware AirWatch technology. Beyond the digital workspace, VMware is partnering with Google Cloud Platform to deliver an open platform to ensure consistent deployment, operations, and security for cloud-native applications across multi-cloud environments.
JOINT SOLUTIONS
Google Cloud VMware® Engine
Google Cloud VMware Engine is a native Google service that integrates VMware’s flagship SDDC to run VMware applications in the cloud. The service includes compute, storage, and network virtualization products (VMware vSphere®, VMware vSANTM and VMware NSX®) along with VMware vCenter® management running on dedicated, elastic Google Cloud bare-metal infrastructure. This VMware-verified, Google-managed cloud service provides a fast, easy, and integrated way for VMware customers to adopt Google Cloud without changes to applications, tools, or processes. The service provides rapid node deployment (in under an hour), saves customers time, reduces costs, and eliminates much of the complexity and risk of moving to the cloud. And with 99.99% uptime, it can meet the needs of demanding enterprise workloads.
IT personnel don’t have to learn new tools or manage differently since their applications run in a dedicated, native VMware environment in Google Cloud. Once in the cloud, customers can immediately begin creating hybrid applications that enable their business to be more agile with secure access to Google services like BigQuery and Cloud Operations and extend their existing disaster recovery, backup, and storage services. With Google Cloud VMware Engine, enterprises can rapidly migrate, extend, and modernize their applications to the cloud.
Google Cloud VMware Engine is a fully managed, integrated VMware Cloud Verified service that is sold and supported by Google Cloud. Cloud Verified is the highest level of validation for VMware-based cloud services, giving customers confidence that Google Cloud VMware Engine offers the most complete and advanced VMware Cloud technologies with the greatest degree of consistency and compatibility across on-premises and cloud environments. The solution is also sold by VMware through the VMware Cloud Universal program.

In order to support today's enterprise requirements, Google has introduced Android enterprise, with two separate management approaches: "work profile mode" for employee owned devices and fully managed device mode for corporate owned devices. Google has recognized VMware as an Android Enterprise Recommended EMM.
Workspace ONE provides holistic device management that integrates with Android to empower mobility across use cases by deploying a work profile or work managed device to separate work and personal apps and data while providing data security and end-user privacy. This enables admins to easily configure and monitor their Android and Chrome OS device fleet from one location.
