A lot has changed since Amazon first started thinking about delivering elastic, highly-scalable, pay-as-you-go technology services in the early 2000s, and which today make up AWS, the world’s leading cloud platform. Join Peter DeSantis, Amazon Web Services Vice President of Global Infrastructure, for a deep dive into the evolution of Network as a Service (NaaS) and how this is an essential factor in delivering cloud computing. He will outline how early investments in defining and building upon network primitives helped drive adoption, growth, and established the legitimacy of cloud computing.  DeSantis will deliver a glimpse of the future as NaaS continues to evolve, providing customers and partners greater flexibility and choice to similarly deconstruct and customize network characteristics in ways that enable them to innovate and advance their applications across both cloud and hybrid environments.

Peter DeSantis manages the AWS Global Infrastructure team that is responsible for the design, deployment, and ongoing operations of AWS, the world’s leading cloud infrastructure. This includes the innovation, customization, manufacture, acquisition, and management of AWS networks, servers, storage, and data center facilities that are used by millions of enterprises, start-ups, government organizations, educational institutions, and non-profits around the world every day. Prior to overseeing AWS’s Global Infrastructure, DeSantis served as Vice President and GM of AWS’s Compute Services, including EC2, for more than 10 years, since inception and original launch in 2006. DeSantis started at Amazon.com in 1998, working in various groups within Amazon, including leading the distributed systems engineering group prior to joining AWS. DeSantis earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and computer science from Dartmouth College.
