Anunta: A Trusted Partner for Managed Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS)

Lifting and shifting an on-premises data center to the cloud is not a one-size-fits-all operation. Nor is it exclusively available to the largest enterprises like it used to be. Any organization can enjoy the cost savings, security, connectivity, scalability, and efficiency of the cloud—provided it finds the right partner.

Anunta, an industry-trusted Managed Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) provider and a VMware Partner since 2012, has long-term partnerships with industry-leading brands in the United States, the United Kingdom, India, and the Philippines. It helps customers reimagine and reinvent business processes for improved efficiency, deeper insights, and superior outcomes. Every year Anunta helps more businesses stay ahead in their digital transformation initiatives on VMware cloud platforms than it did in the year before.

Leading one of Asia’s largest live migrations for healthcare with zero downtime

One of Anunta’s customers in the healthcare industry wanted to shift some of its workloads from on-premises infrastructure to the public cloud for employees connecting from its hospital network and from home. Anunta helped the customer with one of Asia’s largest cloud-hosted desktop implementations on VMware Cloud on AWS.

For the customer, managing data centers in Colorado and Kentucky was tedious, expensive, and time-consuming. The data centers were on the verge of running out of storage space, and business applications were slowing down bandwidth. The customer also needed to address continually changing government regulations.

Anunta recommended VMware Cloud on AWS for the customer, as it was already using VMware Hypervisor. The migration to a highly secure end-to-end managed cloud desktop solution was seamless. The customer maintains the enterprise security, governance, and operational policies it already had while enjoying the security and scalability AWS offers. Anunta modernized the Horizon VDI and server workload sizing, which includes memory and core in addition to storage, and implemented VPNs for faster cloud connectivity.

Anunta migrated workloads to hybrid cloud for more than 2,500 users in less than three weeks. It leveraged VMware HCX for migrating applications in a live environment to ensure that the customer maintained business continuity with zero downtime. Anunta did this by duplicating virtual machines on VMware Cloud on AWS while they were still online in the data center.

The pay-as-you-go model eliminated the up-front capital expenditures that otherwise would have been necessary to refresh the software and hardware, reduced overall costs by up to 30 percent, and reduced the customer’s carbon footprint by 40 percent. Not only is the customer able to keep pace with three new HIPAA regulations, but it’s also saving roughly $50,000 per year on IT administration.

“Businesses increasingly are focusing on using technology rather than building it, so they’ll have more time and resources to focus on their core business,” says CEO and Deputy Managing Director Sivakumar Ramamurthy. “The pay-as-you-go model is providing businesses the greater flexibility to ramp up and down as needed.”

Preparing for remote work in advance

The COVID-19 pandemic dramatically accelerated cloud adoption, and Anunta saw a surge in customers’ demand for DaaS. “We knew a large shift to remote work was coming,” says Ramamurthy, “so we started doing dry runs where we asked people to work remotely. It was more complicated than simply setting up the technical infrastructure. We also had to take care of our employees and manage the challenges of working from home, which can be complicated if employees’ families are at home with them. Everyone on the team, across functions, came together to deal with the challenge. By doing so, Anunta ensured that its team was ready to help customers when they needed it most.

Most customers now realize that they need a sustainable solution for remote work, so with Anunta’s help, they’re putting together long-term roadmaps for the next five or more years. Anunta focuses on the entire customer lifecycle, from end-to-end design and migration to management and ongoing support and everything in between. “These projects aren’t just one and done,” Ramamurthy says. “Our customers are customers for life, and we’re on the road with them throughout their journey. We take the full lifecycle into account when we design solutions for them.”

An award-winning partner

Every year, VMware honors global and regional partners through the Partner Achievement Awards, recognizing partners that demonstrate outstanding results and innovation using VMware products and solutions. Anunta won the VMware Digital Transformation Award for Asia-Pacific-Japan in 2021 for its work on digital transformation engagements that helped customers move to modern, cloud-centric architectures, enhance productivity, achieve cost savings, and set up secure environments. The award acknowledges Anunta’s exceptional innovations in designing end-user focused Desktop as a Service (DaaS) offerings for customers globally.

“At Anunta, we take pride in helping our customers realize the potential of cutting-edge technology,” says Ramamurthy. “This award reinforces our strategic partnership with VMware as a Principal partner, and we are very proud to be a leading partner for digital transformation. Anunta is committed to driving technological innovation by providing customers with customized DaaS offerings and helping them adopt cloud-based technologies to achieve the highest potential of their investment.”
