Susan Nash is a Senior Vice President of VMware where she’s led several of the company’s most important strategic initiatives throughout her 10-year career. She has been the senior executive assigned to a series of important thrusts that have allowed VMware to broaden its offerings and significantly accelerate its growth.
Susan currently oversees all aspects of the VMware relationship with Dell Technologies including product-specific plans and the intersecting interests of customers, Dell and VMware to deliver customer success.
Prior to this role, Susan led Strategic Corporate Alliances where she oversaw VMware’s move to a multi-cloud future by signing significant agreements to go to market with Microsoft, Google, Alibaba, IBM, and Oracle to go with their prior relationship with AWS as they build and deploy their multi-cloud business offerings. Additionally, she has responsibility for the teams running the System Integrators/Systems Outsourcers (Accenture, Deloitte), Key Technology Partners and Hyperscalers ( Microsoft, Google, IBM, Oracle, Alibaba, Intel, Samsung, etc.), and ISV’s (SAP, NVIDIA). She also is responsible for leading the Healthcare Vertical for ISV’s working with providers such as EPIC and Cerner.
Susan also served as Vice President and head of the Synergy and Integration Team from VMware leading Strategy, Planning and Operations for Dell Technology’s acquisition of EMC/VMware in 2016. As part of this team working with Dell, Susan was responsible for generating more than $1.3B in additional revenue synergies between Dell EMC and VMware. This transaction was the largest acquisition in high tech history.
Since joining VMware in 2010, Susan has held several significant leadership roles as Vice President in expanding VMware from primarily selling a single product (vSphere) to expanding, building and running new product lines with Specialists Sales/SE’s and Professional Services in the following areas: Enterprise Management, End User Computing, Mobility, and vSAN (hyperconverged infrastructure). She played a lead role in the evaluation, $1.5 billion acquisition and integration of AirWatch, VMware’s largest and most successful acquisition at that time. As Vice President of Sales for the End User Computing Group, she expanded the team tenfold over two years and built a $300M global revenue unit that delivered more than double their plan in consecutive years. She led the creation of a new product line, Enterprise Management, with a specialty salesforce of 450 people, that outperformed their revenue targets by 30% each year delivering $280M.
Prior to VMware, Susan had a successful record of growing technology businesses and leading high performing teams in multi-national companies and start-up companies. She has unique expertise with billion-dollar mergers and acquisitions having played leadership roles in evaluating potential acquisitions, leading integration efforts, and driving successful billion-dollar-plus businesses that result from acquisitions. She has global experience including living overseas.
As an entrepreneur, Susan was President, CEO and Board Member of Voyence, a technology firm with breakthrough products for network change and configuration management. She joined this company after its initial seed funding and built a global company that became top in its segment utilizing a healthy channel ecosystem and partnerships with major service providers, and with 750 enterprise customers, including Goldman Sachs, Fidelity Investments, IBM, HP, EMC, AT&T, and Sprint. She was backed by several well-known venture capital funds as well as by Hewlett Packard as a strategic investor. Voyence was acquired by EMC in 2007 where it became part of the suite of software products offered by their Enterprise Management Software division. As a result of this acquisition, she was named Vice President of Software & Professional Services for EMC/VMware Services where she led the EMC Ionix Enterprise Management Software division of the Sales Specialists and Professional Services Group.
Prior to Voyence, Susan served with Perot Systems as Vice-President and General Manager responsible for building a new Systems Integration division in less than four years to more than $400 million in annual revenue and profitability. This required structuring service offerings, expanding globally, upgrading the leadership team and a constant focus on growth and profitability. She moved to live in London, United Kingdom to focus on developing their business in Europe. She also participated in their IPO process on the NYSE in 1999. Susan reported to and was part of Ross Perot’s Executive Leadership team.
Prior to Perot Systems, she spent 12 years at Hewlett-Packard in sales, channel management and sales manager positions in a variety of industry verticals and with several generations of information technology hardware offerings.
