At VMware we believe firmly that security needs to be intelligently woven in as an intrinsic component of the IT environment. Complementing our multi-cloud, software-defined infrastructure for private and public cloud environments, we are also equipping our enterprise customers with the ability to manage and secure their end user environments.

Our VMware Workspace ONE digital workspace platform combines mobile and desktop management into a single solution for comprehensive management of end user computing. The Workspace ONE roadmap increasingly adds analytics assisted by AI techniques to provide deeper insights to our customers for operating and securing their end user environments. We plan to continue to invest in internal innovation efforts to build out these intelligence-driven capabilities while also exploring opportunities to augment with acquired technologies and talent where needed. This strategy has, and we expect will continue to, help us deliver the industry’s leading digital workspace platform.

For example, last year we acquired Apteligent to add insights about application performance. Continuing our trend of acquisitions to supplement our internal development efforts, we are pleased to announce today our acquisition of the technology and team of E8 Security, an innovator in the space of behavior analytics and AI-assisted security.

E8 Security is a user and entity behavior analytics company that has developed intelligence technologies that improve security across the digital workspace and accelerate detection of advanced threats based on user and entity behavior anomalies. We plan to integrate E8 Security’s behavior analytics capabilities with our Workspace ONE platform, to help our customers improve the health and security posture of their digital workspace. E8 Security will also complement our recently-launched VMware Workspace ONE Trust Network approach by helping correlate data from integrated third-party solutions with the Workspace ONE platform to provide advanced threat detection and response.

I am pleased to add another significant capability to the VMware end-user computing platform through the acquisition of the technology and team of E8 Security.
