VMware Showcases Healthcare IT Transformation at CHIME, AEHIS

Healthcare IT is undergoing a massive transformation. Once left in the farthest recesses of the basement, it has quickly emerged as a strategic differentiator for the business and a center for enabling cutting-edge research projects, delivering distributed patient care across connected healthcare organizations, providing an improved patient experience and attracting and retaining the best clinical staff.

The digital transformation of healthcare is proceeding at a rapid pace, necessitated by patient demands, the proliferation of innovative new technology and the ever-present yet evolving matrix of threats to the privacy and integrity of sensitive health information. Understandably, as healthcare itself is changing, moving beyond the walls of the hospital, so healthcare IT is changing; moving beyond the walls of the datacenter.

Through a software-defined healthcare IT platform, VMware enables healthcare organizations to modernize and protect the critical IT infrastructure that is at the heart of value based patient care, while mobilizing providers with always on access to patient information from the right device for the right task at the right time.

This week, VMware’s senior healthcare experts are in San Antonio to showcase how VMware Healthcare Solutions enabling the next generation of patient-centric care and guiding healthcare organizations in modernizing IT architecture and data centers, integrating public cloud technologies, delivering the productivity of digital clinical workspaces and transforming security to modern standards.

San Antonio plays host this year to the CIO Fall Forum for the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), a professional organization for CIOs and senior healthcare IT leaders. The VMware team – including CHIME board member and VMware’s Healthcare VP & CTO, Frank Nydam – will hear directly from healthcare IT executives on the nature of their IT needs and how they are managing the competing paradigms of their IT transformation – factors that include budget, security and mobility needs.

VMware is also a participant in the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security (AEHIS) Fall Summit. Now in its third year, AEHIS – formed under the auspices of CHIME – provides a valuable forum for empowering healthcare security executives with resources, continuing education and networking.

These opportunities remain ever-important as information security remains top of mind and priority for healthcare organizations undergoing a journey of IT transformation. From the datacenter to the point of care, VMware is helping to guide that journey and transform the cost, quality and delivery of patient care.
