From Small Beginnings to Big Futures: Giving Opportunity Through Kiva Microloans

With VMware’s  unique approach to giving called Citizen Philanthropy, VMware people are free to choose where and how to contribute to the causes that matter most to them through the VMware Foundation. Their individual actions contribute to VMware’s collective impact as a force for good throughout the world.

Big Things Have Small Beginnings

Last year, during the holiday season, 13,000 people in the VMware community invested in more than 12,500 individual social entrepreneurs in 43 different countries through Kiva, a microfinance nonprofit that leverages the power of technology to connect people to capital. Given the regenerative nature of microfinance, those loans have already been repaid. Now it’s time to reinvest those funds and multiply their life-changing potential.

Giving Back Together—Again

On September 14, VMware celebrates the formation of Dell Technologies. To mark this momentous occasion, VMware is inviting all of its people to join in Giving Back Together by relending the microloans from the holidays. In the spirit of Citizen Philanthropy, VMware people choose the causes to support, and the funds will be proportionally divided to support global social entrepreneurs.

Join the VMware Lending Team

Simultaneously, on September 14, the VMware Foundation is magnifying its contribution to the global community by matching loans made on from people around the world. These loans support social entrepreneurs in a variety of ways, from growing a business, to attending school, to switching to clean energy, to planting new crops—the dreams of these entrepreneurs are limitless.

Be a part of VMware’s giving network by joining the VMware lending team and making a loan to support a social entrepreneur. Every loan creates a ripple effect of opportunity and cascades outward to lift up more lives and communities.
