VMware IT Performance Annual Report 2023
VMware on VMware embodies the commitment of VMware to customers to provide transparency, continued innovation and success. We are passionate about sharing our knowledge of, and experience in, using VMware products.
VMware Is Customer One
VMware on VMware has two main goals. The first is to deploy VMware product releases into various environments throughout the development process, allowing us to provide invaluable feedback to R&D and product development teams by reporting bugs and recommending feature enhancements based on our experience with the product.
Secondly, as first adopters of VMware technology, or Customer One, we share stories and firsthand accounts with customers of our operational experience, including the benefits and challenges of using VMware products globally at scale. Deploying our own products replicates the same issues our customers encounter, and we share our solutions to issues that might arise for customers using VMware products.
We partner with VMware field and sales organizations to share our knowledge and best practices as IT professionals with customers via Zoom webinars, 1:1 customer meetings small group roundtable discussions and corporate events. In addition, we publish our findings in our IT Annual Report , blogs , case studies, You Tube and Twitter channels.
VMware deployed its own industry-leading storage virtualization software to simplify operations, reduce costs and increase business velocity—the time to market of new applications and feature capabilities.
With the increased number of Kubernetes clusters that need to be managed across VMware, VMware IT turned to VMware Tanzu® Mission Control™ to help automate tasks and efficiently manage clusters.
The VMware IT goal was to build a highly resilient solution for critical applications, expand our on-premises data centers to the cloud and increase availability.
VMware IT implemented VMware SD-WAN™ to simplify network management and reduce operational costs.
While cloud technology has revolutionized the way enterprises consume IT, there are significant challenges surrounding the control and optimization of spend.
VMware IT is responsible for standing up environments to support IT development—quickly, consistently and to remediate configuration drift after deployment.
VMware IT leveraged the VMware Tanzu® portfolio to build an application platform for VMware developers, enabling them to deliver software faster and provide improved code quality.
VMware IT implemented VMware Tanzu Observability by Wavefront to comprehensively understand its cloud services at scale.
When VMware decided to replace its enterprise planning and supply chain application, the IT organization sensed an opportunity to accelerate its Zero Trust efforts by microsegmenting the replacement application before launch.
VMware IT evaluated Dell Boomi as its integration platform to host cloud-to-cloud, cloud-to-on-premises, and on-premises-to-cloud application integrations and decided to migrate.
VMware IT needed to find an alternative to the traditional sign-on process, one that offered superior security and end-user simplicity.
VMware on VMware never disappoints. I have used the team countless times to create new opportunities and pull existing opportunities forward.
Prospects and clients alike appreciate that their VMware technology comes with real-world experience, along with tips and tricks for a successful deployment.
I am thankful to have a resource like VMware on VMware at my disposal.
I would be remiss if I didn’t pass along a note of gratitude from our customer’s team. They continue to rave about the value they derived from prior interactions with VMware on VMware. It truly inspired them and significantly helped propel their progress on a major Horizon Cloud on Azure project. They are now on the cusp of the production roll-out of this new environment.
I want to express my appreciation to VMware on VMware for the great support and fantastic delivery during our End-User Computing Core Partner Elite Club training event. More than 30 people from 14 partner companies participated and they all spoke highly of the VMware on VMware session. We plan to continue our collaboration with VMware on VMware.
I arranged for a VMware on VMware presentation on the VMware IT DevOps journey to my customers. It was so successful that their outsourcing partner took the learnings and structured their support group in the same theme.
VMware on VMware helped close a $10M deal and opened the door for a professional services project to design and implement a CI/CD DevSecOps pipeline. You may remember the meetings with the customer in which they were nearly speechless—but you gave them the right level of understanding necessary to make a decision. In addition, you gave them confidence it will work.
How VMware, our customers, and our partners are co-innovating to support emerging technologies and solutions.
Leverage your infrastructure across any app, any cloud and any device for intrinsic security at every layer.
Build new cloud-native apps, modernize existing apps, and operate infrastructure that serves them all across any cloud.
Accelerate modern app operations with network and security virtualization for WAN, data center and cloud.
Once I learned the power of speaking up and advocating for myself, the doors of opportunity opened wide—and never closed. VMware reflects and encourages this philosophy, and that’s one of the big reasons I love working here as a colleague support engineer.
As the leader of the global Audio-Visual team at VMware, I try to infuse my team members with the same passion, energy, and enthusiasm I have for developing meaningful and progressive technology solutions that support our global meeting and event experiences. These efforts ultimately break down barriers created by physical distance, cultural communication, diversity, and personal limitations. And I love connecting people with the technology that enables a more productive experience.
As a database architect at VMware, I take a straightforward approach to challenges. I’m endlessly curious about the root cause of any problem—from disaster recovery to designing highly available architecture—and how IT can solve it in the simplest, most efficient way. I care about this because enterprises tend to overcomplicate solutions rather than look at the big picture of how customers actually use the technology. This can lead to delivering quick fixes instead of long-term answers and prevention.
The key components to managing technology change are delivering quality IT processes at speed, eliminating redundant/time-consuming tasks, reducing overhead and doing it all securely. That’s a big part of my job as Senior Manager, IT Applications. But another significant part is helping DevOps become an organizational/cultural change agent. And that’s what makes what I do so exciting—I get to both create change solutions and shepherd them to make employees/external customers as efficient and productive as possible.
On paper, I use machine learning and micro-services to ensure internal/external end users are their most productive. But I’ve discovered that what truly drives innovation, better solutions and better products is a passion and curiosity for the work. I actually love coming to work (!) as a Member of Technical Staff, Emerging Technologies, knowing I can think out of the box to make things simpler, easier, and even more fun so people enjoy the technology instead of resenting it.
To provide exceptional experiences for VMware colleagues and customers, VMware on VMware proactively engages in the early stages of product development by collaborating with VMware IT.
Working as "Customer Zero," VMware IT partners with R&D and engineering as an early adopter of new solutions to provide valuable feedback used to fix bugs, improve operational experiences and streamline processes.
VMware IT also acts as "Customer One," the first to deploy new VMware technology, and partners with sales as a customer reference. As first adopters of VMware products, our global IT experts are uniquely positioned to share their wealth of knowledge and best practices on product deployment journeys, including the challenges and benefits of using VMware products globally at scale.
We share key findings in our IT Performance Annual Report, blogs, case studies and SoundCloud, Twitter and YouTube channels, as well as in presentations for industry events, webinars, and customer briefings.
