VMware ESX Server Supported Hardware Lifecycle Management Agents

This document lists the links to ESX Server 2.5.x, 3.x and 4.x supported hardware lifecycle management agents. For installation and configuration instructions specific to each supported system management client, refer to Configuring Management Agents for ESX Server 2.5.5, Configuring Management Agents for ESX Server 3.0.1, and Configuring Management Agents for ESX Server 3.0.2.

The supported hardware lifecycle management agents and associated manufacturer links are listed below. These are for your use only. You must obtain from the manufacturer the application, support, and licensing you require. This document contains links to server vendors website that provides details for their ESX system management applications. Other information includes information on system management agents that are COS based. If you are having a technical issue with 3rd party HW/SW and it is not found on this list, please refer to our 3rd Party HW/SW support policy at http://www.vmware.com/support/policies/ThirdParty.html.

VMware vSphere provides a CIM monitoring framework on both classic ESX and ESXi, and a set of generic plug-in implementations which support many different server platforms. Hardware manufacturers may develop additional CIM monitoring plug-ins, also referred to as CIM providers, to expose additional details of their hardware not covered by the generic VMware implementations. Vendors develop and manage the release of these additional software components. Use of these software components is also governed by the end user license agreement of the vendor. Please contact the vendor regarding the availability or the applicability of the desired CIM instrumentation. Any issues found with the vendor provided CIM providers are handled by the corresponding vendor as described in the 3rd party support documentation at http://www.vmware.com/support/policies/ThirdParty.html.

As of release ESXi 5.0, there is no management agent running in ESXi since partner system management software uses CIM interface available in ESXi to manage the hardware. For information on partner system management software and any dependent CIM Providers supported with ESXi 5.0 and above, please contact the respective partner's website for downloads and documentation. For a list of partner CIM Providers that passed VMware CIM Provider Acceptance Test, please refer to http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/vcl/cimprovider.php. Partner Custom images that include CIM Providers needed by system management software are available for download from the Drivers and tools tab of the vSphere download page on vmware.com/support (for example, https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/info/slug/datacenter_cloud_infrastructure/vmware_vsphere/5_0#drivers_tools).

    Dell OM 6.0.1 supports only Intel Nehalem based servers with this ESX release. The Dell OM version for all other supported server platforms is 5.5.0 with this ESX release.
