Known Issues

The following issues might occur in VMware Fusion 7.1.2.

  • When installing VMware Tools on a system with Fedora 20 in 32-bit mode, an error message sometimes occurs
    The following error message might occur when running Fedora 20 in 32-bit mode, “no valid kernel headers found...”
    Workaround: Before installing VMware Tools, make sure to install a special RPM called kernel-PAE-devel, available on the installation media..

  • Cannot create virtual machines from a Boot Camp or OS X recovery partition on new 12-inch Retina MacBook
    Fusion does not currently support creating virtual machines from Boot Camp or OS X recovery partitions on the new MacBook.
    Workaround: You can create new virtual machines from ISO disc images or OS X installers downloaded from the Mac App Store.

Resolved Issues

The following issues have been resolved in VMware Fusion 7.1.2.

  • Using audio conferencing software on a Windows 8 guest operating system caused a severe echo during both video and audio calls
    When you used audio conferencing software on a Windows 8 guest, participants using the built in speaker, as opposed to headphones, received a severe echo during both video and audio calls.
    This issue is resolved.

  • Using the Easy Install option to install the Ubuntu 14.04 or Ubuntu 15.04 guest operating system failed to install VMware Tools
    This issue is resolved.

  • A Windows 10 Insider Preview guest operating system running idly caused the virtual machine to crash
    When you let a Windows 10 Insider Preview guest run idly for a couple of hours or more, the virtual machine sometimes crashed.
    This issue is resolved.

  • When you installed VMware Tools on a RHEL 7.1 guest operating system with kernel 3.10.0-229.el7.x86_64, you could not enable folder sharing.
    This issue is resolved.

  • You could not select the Shared smart card option
    When using a smart card reader, the Shared smart card option was not visible.
    This issue is resolved.

  • When a virtual machine was suspended in Unity mode and you launched an application from the Application menu bar to start the virtual machine, keyboard connectivity was lost.
    This issue is resolved.

  • When you installed VMware Tools on a Ubuntu guest operating system with kernel 3.13.0-46-generic, you could not enable folder sharing
    This issue is resolved.

  • USB HID devices were disabled on the USB Settings panel
    When you attempted to connect a USB HID device to the guest operating system, the device check box on the USB Settings panel was disabled, which prevented you from connecting the device to the guest.
    This issue is resolved.

  • Every time you powered on a Boot Camp virtual machine, you received a prompt to reactivate Windows
    This issue is resolved.

  • Creating a virtual machine with the Simplified Chinese, French, or Italian Windows 10 Insider Preview guest operating system failed
    When you attempted to create a virtual machine with the Simplified Chinese, French, or Italian versions of the Windows 10 Insider Preview guest, the process hung on the preparation page. If you then forced a restart of the virtual machine, an error message appeared.
    This issue is resolved.

  • The copy & paste and drag & drop actions did not work in the Ubuntu 14.04 guest operating system in Fusion 7
    After a virtual machine was upgraded from an earlier version of Ubuntu x64 to version 14.04, the copy & paste and drag & drop actions failed to work in Fusion 7.
    This issue is resolved.

  • When you used video conferencing software in a virtual machine, participants noticed a video stream delay
    This issue is resolved.

  • Unable to use certain USB devices on Windows virtual machines
    When using certain USB devices, such as the Keyspan USA-19HS USB to serial adapter, the Rainbow USB Ultrapro, and the Kodak PS80 Scanner, on Windows virtual machines, the devices failed to work.
    This issue is resolved.

  • The / and ù keys were inverted on Canadian French multilingual keyboards
    This issue is resolved.

  • When a host machine woke up from sleep, sometimes virtual machines displayed the message "Error starting sound stream"
    This issue is resolved.

  • Creating a virtual machine with Western European special characters caused problems
    Two different problems occurred when you created a virtual machine, clicked Customize Settings on the Finish screen, and renamed the virtual machine with European special characters. Either the list of removable devices was missing in the virtual machine's settings pane or the following message appeared, "The virtual machine appears to be in use."
    This issue is resolved.

Security Issues

  • VMware Fusion 7.1.2 has been updated to OpenSSL library version openssl-1.0.1m. This OpenSSL library version addresses several OpenSSL security issues including CVE-2014-3571, CVE-2015-0206, CVE-2014-3569, CVE-2014-3572, CVE-2015-0204, CVE-2015-0205, CVE-2014-8275, and CVE-2014-3570.
