Updated 23 MAY 2014
What's in the Release Notes
The release notes cover the following topics:
About the vCloud Hybrid Service Plug-in
vCloud Hybrid Service vSphere Client Plug-in lets you view and manage your vCloud Hybrid Service resources in the vSphere Web Client. After you install the plug-in and register your vCloud Hybrid
Service account with it, you can view all your Dedicated Cloud and Virtual Private Cloud instances in the vSphere Web Client. You can browse each cloud instance and manage its inventory of virtual data centers,
gateways, networks, and virtual machines.
Note that the plug-in is intended for use by administrators; it cannot be used by vCloud Hybrid Service users with an End User role.
- New Installer
In the 1.0.1 release, the installation process for the plug-in has been simplified. A new vCloud Hybrid Service Plug-in Installer is available in the Home page of vSphere Web
Client 5.5 Update 1 by default. You use this installer to install the plug-in. The installer connects to My VMware, downloads the plug-in, and installs it in vSphere Web Client.
The new installer also handles upgrades and provides an automated upgrade path. Whenever a new version of the vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in is available, it will appear in the Getting Started page of the plug-in. You can click the link to
upgrade to the latest version. This feature is available for upgrading from version 1.0.1 to later versions.
NOTE: Upgrade from version 1.0.0 to version 1.0.1 is not supported. Version 1.0.0 is only available for vSphere Web Client 5.5. Version 1.0.1 is only available in vSphere Web Client 5.5 Update 1 and later.
Note that if you installed version 1.0.0 in vSphere Web Client 5.5 and you upgrade the vSphere Web Client to 5.5 Update 1, the plug-in will continue to appear after the upgrade. In this case, you must uninstall the 1.0.0 version,
using the installation script provided with 1.0.0, and then install version 1.0.1 with the new installer.
- Plug-in Features
Except for the installation and upgrade features listed above, vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in 1.0.1 has the same functionality as vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in 1.0.0.
If you are using vSphere Web Client 5.5, install vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in 1.0.0, as version 1.0.1 is only available for vSphere Web Client 5.5 Update 1 or later.
The vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in has the same browser requirements as the vSphere Web Client, except for the exceptions listed below. See vSphere Web Client Software Requirements for
Note: Internet Explorer 8 is not supported. Use a later version or another browser.

Occasional registration problems
When you register your vCloud Hybrid Service account with vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in 1.0.1 installed in vSphere Web Client 5.5 Update 1, the following
problems can occur occasionally:
- You are unable to register your account. The registration hangs.
- When you log out of vSphere Web Client and log back in, your account is no longer registered and you have to register it again.
These problems are likely to occur when your environment is slow.
Try the following workarounds:
- Close other tabs in your browser, log out of the vSphere Web Client, and log in again using a new browser window. Then try to register your account with the plug-in again.
- Use another browser. Firefox is recommended.
The plug-in supports the Web browsers that the vSphere Web Client supports, except Internet Explorer 8. See vSphere Web Client Software Requirements for
Active Directory user with SSO administrator privileges unable to install or upgrade the plug-in
If you use Active Directory to manage users, and you have added Active Directory as an external identity source and added a user from Active Directory as Single Sign-on administrator,
you are unable to install or upgrade the vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in as that user.
Do the following for the user account that you will use to install or upgrade the plug-in.
- Add the Active Directory user as a member of an Active Directory group.
- Add that Active Directory group as a member of the Administrators@vsphere.local group.
This is required to obtain the correct privileges for installing or upgrading the plug-in.
vCloud Hybrid Service Installer Getting Started page does not appear in Internet Explorer 8 and you cannot install the plug-in
If you are using Internet Explorer 8, when you click on the vCloud Hybrid Service Installer icon in the Home page of
the vSphere Web Client, the Getting Started page does not appear, preventing you from installing (or upgrading) the vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in.
Internet Explorer 8 is not supported. Use Internet Explorer 9 or a different browser.
Getting Started page appears in English even if a different locale is selected
The vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in is only available in English. Regardless of your locale settings, the plug-in user interface and Getting Started page always appear in English.
Cannot sort object tables by column
You cannot sort any object tables in the vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in by column. When you click on a column heading, the objects in that column should be listed in
ascending or descending order.
This feature is not enabled yet.
Cannot add more than 15 hard drives to a virtual machine
When you try to add more than 15 hard drives to a virtual machine by editing its hardware settings, the command fails.
None. You cannot add more than 15 hard drives to a virtual machine from either the plug-in or the vCloud Hybrid Service portal.
Cannot view isolated networks in Networks tab
The Networks tab of a virtual data center only lists the gateway networks (routed networks) of the virtual datacenter. It does not list isolated networks.
When you create a new virtual machine, or change the network assignment of a virtual machine, isolated networks are listed in, and can be selected from, the list of available
Virtual machine console not supported on Safari browser
In Safari, you cannot open a virtual machine's console.
You can open the console using other browsers.
Task information might be unavailable for short periods of time
A notification service provides task information to the plug-in. If there is a proxy time-out, the connection to the notification service is lost. If the plug-in does not receive
any notifications for two minutes, it attempts to reconnect to the notification service. You will not receive any notifications (task information) during that interval.
Notifications resume after the plug-in reconnects to the notification service.
Storage profiles not displayed in plug-in
The vCloud Hybrid Service plug-in does not display storage profiles for virtual machines or let you select a storage profile while deploying a template. Templates are deployed
with the default storage profile.
Available storage displayed is sum of available storage in all storage profiles
When you deploy a template from a virtual data center that has multiple storage profiles, the Customize resources page of the New Virtual Machine from Template wizard displays available
storage that is the sum of the storage available in all the storage profiles, instead of displaying only the storage available in the default storage profile. (In the plug-in, you cannot
select a storage profile and templates are deployed with the default storage profile.)
You can check the available storage for the default storage profile in the vCloud Hybrid Service portal.
