As of September 1, 2016, VMware Cloud Foundation 2.0 replaces VMware EVO SDDC 1.2, providing an expanded set of capabilities to deliver a unified SDDC platform for the hybrid cloud. In the current release, customers will continue to find legacy references to the EVO SDDC product and version 1.2 in the download page, user interface and product documentation. Bundle file names still include evorack. These references will be phased out in subsequent releases.
There are two main options to deploy VMware Cloud Foundation on premises in your own private cloud:
- Work with a system integrator that will build and deploy physical rack(s) with Cloud Foundation software pre-loaded
- Build and image your Cloud Foundation deployment yourself
If you are working with a system integrator, read the VMware EVO SDDC Overview and Bring-Up Guide for information on how to bring-up the imaged rack.
If you are building your own deployment, first see the List of Qualified Hardware for a list of supported servers (Virtual SAN Ready Nodes) and networking switches. Once you have assembled the hardware components for your physical rack, download the following files from the Product Download page
- VMware Cloud Foundation 2.0 Imaging Appliance
- VMware Cloud Foundation bundle appropriate to hardware components and md5sum file
Read the VIA User's Guide for information on how to image the rack. Read the VMware EVO SDDC Overview and Bring-Up Guide for information on how to bring-up the imaged rack.
