The Compatibility Matrixes for vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.8 describe the compatibility between Site Recovery Manager 5.8.x and platforms, database software, guest operating systems, storage partners, and other VMware solutions. Where compatibility information for Site Recovery Manager exists in the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes and the VMware Compatibility Guide, the present matrixes describe how to use these tools to find the relevant information. Where the VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes and the VMware Compatibility Guide do not provide information relating to Site Recovery Manager, this information is listed here.
In the compatibility tables listed in these matrixes, YES means the versions are compatible and No means the versions are not compatible.

vCenter Server Requirements
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.1 is compatible with vCenter Server 5.5u3 and 5.5u2. Site Recovery Manager 5.8.1 does not require SSLv3 to be enabled to work with vCenter Server 5.5u3.
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.0 is compatible with vCenter Server 5.5u2.
Site Recovery Manager supports the vCenter Server appliance (vCSA) on either or both of the protected and recovery sites.

- Go to http://partnerweb.vmware.com/comp_guide2/sim/interop_matrix.php?.
- Click Interoperability.
- For Solution select VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager.
- For Version select All, 5.8, or an update release.
- For Platform/Solution select VMware vCenter Server.
vSphere Replication Requirements
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.1 is compatible with vSphere Replication 5.8.1.
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.0 is compatible with vSphere Replication 5.8.0.
If your vSphere infrastructure is running a different version of vSphere Replication, you must upgrade vSphere Replication to the appropritate version before you can install or upgrade Site Recovery Manager. Host Operating System Compatibility for Site Recovery Manager Server
- Site Recovery Manager Server 5.8.1 runs on the same Windows host operating systems as vCenter Server 5.5u3 and 5.5u2.
- Site Recovery Manager Server 5.8.0 runs on the same Windows host operating systems as vCenter Server 5.5u2.

Supported Database Software
Site Recovery Manager 5.8.x provides an optional embedded vPostgres database that it installs on the host system. You can also use an external database. To use an external database, you must install a 64-bit database client (ODBC driver) on the Site Recovery Manager Server host.
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.1 supports the same external database software as vCenter Server 5.5u3 and 5.5u2.
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.0 supports the same external database software as vCenter Server 5.5u2.

- Go to http://partnerweb.vmware.com/comp_guide2/sim/interop_matrix.php?.
- Select Solution/Database Interoperability.
- For Solution, select VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager.
- For Version, select All, 5.8, or an update release.
- For Database, select one of the the following options:
- To see the full list of supported database editions, versions, and service packs, select All.
- To check whether a specific database edition or version is supported, select that database. For example, select Oracle 11g Standard Edition, Release 2 [11.2.0.1]- 64-bit.
Guest Operating System Support
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.1 supports the protection and recovery of virtual machines that run all of the guest operating systems that vSphere 5.5u3 and 5.5u2 support.
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.0 supports the protection and recovery of virtual machines that run all of the guest operating systems that vSphere 5.5u2 supports.
NOTE: If support for a guest operating system has been added in an update release of ESXi Server and Site Recovery Manager, to protect virtual machines that run those operating systems you must update ESXi Server to the corresponding update release as well as updating Site Recovery Manager. You must update ESXi Server on both the protected and recovery sites.

- Go to http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=software.
- Select Guest OS from the What are you looking for? drop-down menu.
- For Product Name select ESX/ESXi.
- For Product Release Version select ESXi n, where n is a release of ESXi/ESX that Site Recovery Manager 5.8.x supports.
- To see all the supported versions of guest operating systems from an operating system vendor:
- For OS Family Name, select All.
- For Partner Name, select the operating system vendor. For example, select Red Hat.
- To check which updates of a particular operating system is supported:
- For OS Family Name, select the operating system. For example, select Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0.
- For Partner Name, select All.
- Click Update and View Results.
Guest Operating System Customization Support
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.1 supports guest operation system customization for all of the same guest operating systems for which vSphere 5.5u3 and 5.5u2 support customization.
- Site Recovery Manager 5.8.0 supports guest operation system customization for all of the same guest operating systems for which vSphere 5.5u2 supports customization.

NOTE: If support for IP customization of a guest operating system has been added in an update release of ESXi Server, to protect virtual machines that run those operating systems you must update ESXi Server to the corresponding update release as well as updating Site Recovery Manager. You must update ESXi Server on both the protected and recovery sites.
NOTE: IP customization is not supported for Windows Server Core Editions.
