What's New in Hyperic 5.0.3?

This version addresses the "shell-shock" vulnerability that was discovered in earlier versions of this product. For your security, VMware recommends that you install this upgrade as soon as possible.

Upgrading to the New Version

You must create a new vApp to upgrade to the new version. Follow these steps to ensure a complete upgrade is performed.

  1. Using port 5840, upgrade Hyperic from version 5.0.x to version 5.0.3, or to version 5.8.3.
  2. Install vApp 5.0.3 or, if you upgraded to version 5.8.3, install vApp 5.8.3.
  3. Export the Hyperic data from your original Hyperic server using the migration script.
  4. Import the Hyperic data to your new Hyperic server using the migration script.
  5. Shut down your original Hyperic vApp.
  6. Shut down your new Hyperic vApp.
  7. Change the Hyperic server IP address to the original IP address, so that already-installed agents can communicate with the new Hyperic server.
  8. Start the new Hyperic vApp.
