Known Issues in ESX Server 3.0.2 Update 1

Broadcom Driver Interferes with BMC Networking Connectivity on IBM Systems
When the bnx2 driver is loaded on IBM Systems using Broadcom 5706, 5708, or 5709 devices, communication to the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) from an external source is not possible. This prevents system management applications from getting NIC monitoring information for the system.

Workaround: Use the IBM Remote Supervisor II (RSA II) interface for the functions that it provides. If BMC capability is required for your product network, please wait for the ESX Server update patch from VMware.

vmkping and ramcheck Commands Fail in ESX 3.0.2 Update 1 or ESX 3.0.2 Server with Patch Bundle ESX-1001907 Installed
VMware discovered an issue with two command line utilities (vmkping and ramcheck) when ESX 3.0.2 Update 1 or ESX Server 3.0.2 patch bundle ESX-1001907 is installed.

Workaround: Download and install patch ESX-1002424. Refer to KB 1002880 for a detailed description of this issue.

Issues Resolved in ESX Server 3.0.2 Update 1

forcedeth Driver Causes Excessive Interrupts on Some Sun Servers
On ESX Server 3.0.2 hosts, excessive interrupts are generated by the forcedeth network software driver for the built-in Ethernet interfaces on Sun Blade X6220 Server Modules and SunFire X2200 M2, X4100 M2 and X4200 M2 servers. Testing reveals no measurable effect on system performance or reliability.

Refer to KB 1001398 for more information.

SMBIOS.reflectHost=TRUE does not work correctly in ESX Server 3.0.2
This prevents virtual machines from obtaining the physical server's Product and Manufacturer SMBIOS information. Within the guest operating system of the virtual machine, the hardware detected shows "VMware" rather than the actual underlying physical hardware, even when the SMBIOS.reflectHost=TRUE option is set in the virtual machine's configuration (.vmx) file.
