This paper describes best practices for implementing an Active Directory infrastructure on virtual machines. Migration of a physical AD infrastructure to either a fully virtualized or mixed physical / virtual environment is discussed. Issues that can affect performance such as network speed, hardware performance, system redundancy and virtual machine (VM) density policies are addressed.
