Description:

The Network I/O Control (NetIOC) feature available in VMware vSphere 4.1 addresses network traffic convergence and management challenges by flexibly partitioning physical network bandwidth among the different types of vSphere network traffic flows. It enforcing traffic isolation, predictability and prioritization, therefore helping IT organizations overcome the contention resulting from consolidation and maintain service levels for selected traffic types. NetIOC is particularly useful for organizations using 10GigE in their vSphere environment. This paper discusses the use cases for NetIOC, the underlying technology, usage, performance lab results, and best practices.
